Geometric Progress LLC is proud to announce the award for a new effort titled "Transforming Geospatial Data Management: An Exploration of the Layered Terrain Format." This effort has been awarded as a subcontract from KaDSci LLC under the U.S. Army Geospatial Center's Broad Agency Announcement prime contract. We will be conducting an assessment of the practicality, performance, advantages, and disadvantages of using the U.S. Army Research Labs ASCEND framework in conjunction with the Layered Terrain Format for provisioning and deploying geospatial data to the full breadth of Army operational and training users.

We are honored to announce that we have been awarded a subcontract from Applied Research Associates, Inc. to support synthetic environment development and process improvement for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Task Order 59. We look forward to assisting in the design and development of synthetic environment production for simulation federates such as those in the Force-on-Force Evaluation and Analysis of Key Parameters (FREAK) program to support simulation to model and counter Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High Explosive (CBRNE) threats. We also believe it will be possible to significantly improve the workflow for the production of terrain for existing federates such as the Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF) and Software for the Optimization of Radiation Detectors (SWORD) to reduce turnaround time and improve fidelity. While this is the first such award for Geometric Progress LLC, it continues a solid three-year relationship between our Director and the wider team supporting DTRA J9-IS.

Geometric Progress LLC is proud to announce the award of our first funded contract! We look forward to assisting Applied Research Associates, Inc. in continuing the design, analysis, and development of the ASCEND project in support of US Army Research Lab's Human Resources and Engineering Directorate (ARL HRED). ASCEND is an effort to develop a cloud-based architecture to streamline the collection, processing, production, and distribution of synthetic environments at the point of need. We will support ARA with our published expertise on geospatial model format and protocol design and analysis.

ARA Virtual Heroes is presenting a paper today at I/ITSEC on "Measuring Rapid Streaming Delivery of Synthetic Environments." The primary topic is defining and demonstrating a consistent methodology for conducting performance measurements of synthetic environment streaming and network transmission, using the Open Geospatial Consortium XML standards and the open source GeoServer product as the test case. Director Greg Peele was the primary author of this paper while employed at ARA, written in collaboration with four other members of the ARA synthetic environment team - Andrew Bertrand, Haris Javaid, Michael Shin, and Jaime Soto. We're pleased to see the ARA team bringing the paper to its full conclusion and presenting it to the world! Congratulations!
